Great Surprise in Port Townsend area

The Port Townsend Aero Museum located outside of Port Townsend is a labor of love by a retired United Airlines pilot. It was built from the ground up, and is an outstanding small air museum. the aircraft restorations are first rate, and the museum has an extensive educational component that works with at-risk kids. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality, variety and extent of the collection and the facility. Great stop in the PT area, expecially with kids.

Beautifully Done and What a Great Mission!
My husband wanted to stop here on our way to Port Townsend and I wasn't that excited about it. But, my enthusiasm changed once I toured the beautifully displayed vintage small planes and learned of the Museum's mission to teach young people about the restoration of aircraft, and how to fly them. It is a win, win, win situation with new skills being acquired by young people, old aircraft being lovingly restored to flying condition, and then sharing the work with the public. Everything I saw at the Port Townsend Aero Museum was done in excellent taste, in my opinion, with lovely aviation art and historical memorabilia throughout. I would happily visit this museum again.
