    Huckleberry Picking
Weaver told that this was the place to go to pick our own huckleberries. Well, kind of. They were very difficult to pick on the steep rocky slopes. In an hour and a half we picked about a cup full. There are no marked trails. You kind of follow some beaten down brush that people before you made through. However, it was a very nice drive up the mountain road with lots of vistas to stop and view the valley below. Ironically, when we returned to our downtown Spokane hotel, there were huckleberries growing on the bushes right below us!

    Fresh air and sunshine!
My family and I had a beautiful hiking experience just a few minutes out of Spokane. Mt Spokane has numerous well marked hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty which are clearly marked. We took are dogs (on leash) but there were also horses, mountain bikes, walkers and joggers. Plenty of room and views for every taste. We took the trail up to Quartz Mountain, well-named, and the cool, crisp clean air brought us an expansive panoramic view of lakes, rivers, Mt Spokane and rolling mountain sides. Plenty of areas to breakout your picnic lunch and just listen to the wind in the trees.
