    Healthy Hike
In my younger years, I climbed Olympus several times, but now I just enjoy the hike. Hikers can cruise through the Hoh river valley flatlands from the ranger station to Elk Meadows. at that point, the trail steepens and crosses the river via a sturdy plank bridge that spans a narrow cut with cliffs on each side and the river hundreds of feet below. The hiking trail ends at the Blue Glacier and offers nice views of the rugged ice blocks at the terminus and the rock pile ribbon along the lateral moraines.

    WHAT A VIEW
We took the drive up to Hurricane Ridge in the morning (about 11ish) just in time to join a FREE ranger tour So glad we did. We spent the next hour being guided around the area by a very knowledgeable ranger (sorry I forgot her name but she likes all things snowy and comes from the East) She explained about the flora and fauna, the climate etc. We even spotted some deer, marmots and squirrels along the way. All this before we took in the views...and what views. AWESOME. The café was a bit of a disappointment so I recommend eating before or after or taking some snacks/drinks with you. We are only sorry we didn't have more time to spend in the area.
