One of the greatest train museum on wheels
I do not know what kind of idiot official thinks that a small [blink and miss it] town and its Lion's club can afford the government inspection costs [$135,000, I was told]. If the government wants to inspect, then do so but not at the expense of the town's only tourist attraction, it only main source of funding for it local causes, and its greatest action history museum on wheels. We need the great body of the Lions's Club to rally on its behalf. We need the historical societies to come forward and stand beside them before it is too late. We need people to contact government officials and condemn such behavior. We need to pass this message on until something is done before the last train leaves the station for good.

An outstanding train ride. Too bad government regulations is closing them down!
This is the second year in a row we have brought folks here to take this train ride. In our enclosed car John, his wife and their young sidekick again did an outstanding job. The towns of Ione and Metaline Falls really pull together for this one. Food is good and cheap and the bake sale stand is to die for. Where else can you get a great apple pie for 5.00 and oodles of molasses cookies for 8.00 complete with paper plates, forks and napkins for your hotel room. These towns should be commended for their work doing this wonderful service for all of these years. Well Done!
