4.5 (117 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Camas Bodies of Water

Kayaking close to town

My husband and I rented 2 kayaks for a couple of hours and it was most enjoyable and a pretty inexpensive way to spend a summer morning.

Can't enjoy all the trails in one day...
Probably have gone every 2 weeks all summer. Go for the hiking; Go for the picnic and playground; Go for the kayak or canoe; JUST GO!! They offer a few picnic areas (grill down for now), with playground and restrooms for an outing in the trees. They have two small launch areas for the kayak/canoe. They have MILES of trails with multiple forks for ease or challenge hiking. The trails travel around the lake and then out toward the other parks in Camas. You can follow the river from the dam to the waterfalls, or up into the hill for wildlife. Look at the map guides and talk to other hikers for different fork options. You could be in there for hours.

I live at Lacamas Shores on Lacamas Lake
The trail on the south side of the lake is very peaceful, although in the last year there has been an increase in bicycle traffic. I personally find this dangerous as it is hard to hear the bikes approach. The vistas on the walk are very tranquil. I do not recommend swimming in this lake. A neighbor's dog died after drinking the water.
