Beautiful Bridge

It was a bit harrowing to cross, as I was driving towards Mount St. Helens. The elevation and curvature of this narrow bridge was a bit unnerving. The scenery on the approach was beautiful, but I reminded myself to look at the road, not the scenery. My heart rate went back down after crossing. Interestingly, the return trip was not as intimidating. In fact, I noticed an overlook, where I took great shots of the bridge, appreciating the incredible architecture. If you make it to this area, take the time to look at the bridge from the elevated scenic overlook. It will be a worthwhile stop.

    Attractive Architecture.
    This is a nice overlook for a remarkable bridge, if you're into architecture and beauty and views of things humans have made. This is the largest bridge of the 14 new bridges that had to be built after the volcanic eruption wiped out highway 504. Driving across the bridge, you can't see much of the structure, so definitely make this quick detour and take a look at how cool it is. 15 minute stop, and worth each minute.

    Spirit Lake Highway Scenic Stop
    Definite stop on your Spirit Lake (rt 504) drive to Johnston Observatory ... left hand turn off 504 into the viewing/parking area ... Current photos give you a definite visual of the overlook of the bridge ... informative plaques and good view
