Nice Weather Afternoon With Grandchildren

We had a beautiful, sunny, and unseasonably warm day with grandchildren and rather than have them bouncing off the walls we decided to take a hike in the woods to a place recommended to us by friends. This is an area with hiking and biking trails very close to suburbia. Of particular interest was the "Gnomes Trail" which is one of the many trails in the space, but this on is a loop trail where a group of people has placed garden gnomes, small figurines, elves, fairies, etc. among the trees and undergrowth in cute and inventive ways. Our 10 year old granddaughter counted over 400 gnomes on our hike. We had a wonderful time and will likely return with or without grandchildren. Quoting from the King County Website: "Henry’s Ridge Open Space is a 250-acre forest about three miles southeast of Maple Valley. Prior to King County’s ownership of the Henry’s Ridge Open Space, this forest was managed as industrial timber lands. King County acquired Henry's Ridge Open Space to protect natural lands from development and restore the forest's resilience against threats of disease, pests, drought, and wildfires."
