Guemes Channel Trail, Washington, United States

4.5 (16 reviews) Spent Ranking #12 in Fidalgo Island Biking Trails • Hiking Trails

A well-kept secret that is unmarked and hard to find.

On your way on Spur 20 to go to the Washington Ferry depot, one of the last driveways on the right goes through a neighborhood of view houses. If you stay to your left, the road leads down the hill to a small parking circle. In one direction is the Guemes Channel Trail and in the other is an accessible beach area. We walked on the trail in May 2019 and were dismayed by the condition. Large sections of the walkway were breaking up and falling over the edge, the growth on the hillside was encroaching onto the walkway. Sad. The, we returned in August to find much work had been done. The growth was trimmed back, and the broken path areas were cut out and filled with gravel. Now, in September, they are going to pave those repaired areas. This is a lovely walkway, enjoyed by nearby residents and people in the know. I am glad to see the city has seen its value and made the effort to keep it maintained.

    Smell the Sea Water
This is a must do trail. If you are in line to catch the ferry you have an opportunity to stretch your legs. There are birds to be seen. The wooden walking trail is easy to navigate.
