Des Moines Creek Trail, Washington, United States

A peaceful walk in the woods

We found the 200th Street parking lot that had maybe 14 parking slots and 4 or 5 that were made up as people came in and found spots that worked for them. There is one port-o-let that was surprisingly well maintained! So, there are bonus points for that. We took the trail that headed toward Puget Sound. If you find yourself between jet movement (you are very close to Sea-Tac), it is possible to feel as if you are close to being in a primordial forest. Okay, ignore the paved road. It has amazing cover from the trees, a lovely winding creek, mile markers and it is perfect for a bike ride or a stroll. There are so many options available as to what parking lots you can choose from and in what direction you can go. I plan on hitting up all the parking lots and walking many of the trails. It was just so peaceful. Bring water, possibly snacks, some of the trails are long.

    Great Trail
I found this paved trail on my trip to the Seattle area. I was looking for something to do near my hotel that was outdoors. I found this trail through a google search. It is a paved trail that follows along aside a creek and is very wooded. There are lots of bikers, who go fast, and walkers on this trail so I felt comfortable walking it alone. I only walked 1 1/2 miles of the trail from the starting point at 200th and just past the waste treatment plant. It was quite a long ways still until the end point. It was very relaxing and I highly recommend it if you're in the area. I would like to point out that the parking lot at the starting point at 200th is very small. If you go after 5PM on a work day you may not find parking.

Stopover prior to returning car rental
It is always difficult for international visitors deciding how to spend a couple of hours prior to returning their rental car and flying home. This was a great option particularly as you can pass a cheapish Safeway gas station on the way to the car rental return on International Blvd. Plenty of benches to sit and as previous reviewers have said a nice walking trail. It was paid parking at the beach park but it was easy to find on street car parking nearby
