Wow - great hike, beautiful forest, scenic bridges and falls

Even on the last weekend of January, when it was cold (40 degrees) this was a great experience. It rained - it's a rainforest - but the trail is gravel, not muddy. There is some elevation. Park on South Shore Rd adjacent to the bridge that crosses the creek. The trail follows that creek, crossing it a few times, with some scenic wooden bridges that each one is a photo opportunity. You know you're heading to the falls because you hear the creek the whole way. We are in our 60s and this was a 1-mile hike to the falls. The trail goes on further, but we chose to turn back and return. There were no benches or seats anywhere, but if you bring some plastic to stay dry there are likely always fallen logs. Be prepared to climb over logs if they have fallen and the trail hasn't been cleared. I'll post photos taken only from the parking lot to the falls.

Lovely short trail to falls- can connect to others
This trail was absolutely lovely- at .4 miles it’s a short in and back trail or you can follow connecting trails to make it longer. We started at the Cascade Falls trail head, connected with the Cedar Bog, did the Rain Forest Nature Trail Loop and ended with the lake shore trail to end up at Lake Quinault Lodge- about a 4 mile hike in total. A great, easy trail system filled with beauty.

Best Hike in the "Lodge Area"
Not huge or unique, but beautiful, serene, and lush. Surrounded by mammoth trees and accessed by a great hike even if there wasn’t the “prize” of Cascade Falls in the middle.
