An outing in the middle of the week

This park is still under construction. It is lovely. There over 4000 feet of walking trails. Mostly level. This is a great place for a stroll to look at the different art pieces and native plants. This is just off the exit. Plenty of parking. Great for a picnic. Great for photos! We loved it and go several times a year.

What a beautiful little oasis. The wooden boardwalk runs through a huge variety of native plantlife, creating a quiet and serene walk just off I-5. I plan to return in the Spring to see everything in bloom!

Just to the east of the 300th Street exit from I-5, between Smokey Point and Mount Vernon, WA - this developing attraction is literally blooming before our eyes. I am grateful to live within a mile of these botanical gardens, and choose them 2 - 3 times a week for my personal exercise. I won't be able to list all the highlights, but here are a few: 1. Extensive collection of Northwest plants creatively scattered along the winding nature path, with QR codes to scan for more information. 2. Historical plaques of Dietrich Bonhoeffer with prayer points. 3. Outdoor display of exotic glass sculptures, created at the nearby Pilchuck Glass School, where Dale Chihuli studied. 4. Historical Freeborn Lutheran Church. 5. Restored historical buildings. 6. Active cemetery that gets a lot of floral attention. I hear they're preparing to put in a coffee shop. There are picnic tables and benches everywhere for sitting and relaxing and enjoying nature - also a number of sani-cans if you're in need. This place is worth a stop even if you don't have to go.
