Explore the nearby Fairy Dell Park
If you park at the north end parking lot of Battle Point Park, near the duck pond, you can walk back out onto Frey Road, turn right, then left at the path marked with a "Beach Access" sign and into a magical place called "The Fairy Dell." A winding path (often muddy in spots--wear good shoes), winds through a densely wooded ravine with little bridges over a small stream. It's the closest thing to Middle Earth you've ever seen. At the north end of the trail you can turn left and go down some steps to the beach when the tide is out and get a fabulous view across the Sound of the Olympic Mountain Range rising above the Kitsap Peninsula. Or you can turn right and climb up the trail to the corner of Venice Loop and Kirk Ave. Either walk around the L-shaped Venice Loop to Arrow Point Drive and back to the other opening of Venice Loop. It's an easy walk back to Battle Point Park from there. The Fairy Dell currently lacks a sign, but it is a public park.

    Hidden Playground Treasure on Bainbridge
This park is very large (over 75 acres) and other than the playground its has large open spaces with ponds, a nice trail for walking/bike riding/jogging, athletic fields (soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and roller hockey), equestrian area, gardens, and an astrological observatory. The playground features a ferry boat, sailboat, and local island historical places created into a unique play area for children. This park is only a ferry boat ride away from Downtown Seattle. A visit to this park makes a fantastic day trip/outing.
