Fantastic, very friendly staff
We arrived on a Sunday morning ahead of opening, soaking wet with two small children. Staff opened early for us, gave us all a drink and even started explaining things before the museum's official opening. The museum itself is very informative and hands on, even for children. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long, so didn't look around outside and also didn't do the underground tour (note for the latter children have to be 10). It was well worth visiting anyway and staff are very knowledgeable.

Very interesting!
This is a very interesting site as its historical significance is immense. The museum was interesting. There is a "virtual" tour of the mines if your children are too young to actually go down into the mines for a tour (mine were 4 and 6). We had fun learning about flint and how it was used in the past. The kids had fun walking around the museum and looking at the various pieces of flint all over the site. There is an active archaeological dig on site and during the week you can go and talk with the archaeologists. (We went on a weekend so the site was closed off). Not a bad thing to do on a nice day!
