A Château to see in Belgium

I went to see this Château on an organised tour. We paid to have a historian JJ take us around the Château for a 2 hour period, explaining the history from the 1700’s to current date. Excellent information. The building has many artefacts on display, most notably silver. It is well laid out, without a guide it would take an hour inside to walk around and read. They provide you with shoe covers, to protect the floor. Cloakroom and washroom complementary. €6 adult fee entrance. They also have a restaurant located outside the main Château in the grounds. I would book in advance for a reservation for eating. The building was well heated and insulated. A nice day out.

    All to ourselves
We've lived in Belgium for years, yet this gem was unknown to us until last Sunday. A beautiful but cold day, we sheltered in the warmth of the castle before strolling its extensive grounds. Had a nice lunch in the Orangerie. The castle's permanent exhibit on the ground floor is extremely well done, giving the visitor a glimpse of life (for the extremely wealthy) in the 18th century. Nice touch: scenes from "Amadeus," "Barry Lyndon," "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and other period dramas.

    Nice Gardens and Castle
If you would like to spend some time in open air, I recommend visiting the gardens and if your time allows you, the castle should be visited.
