amazing free place.
a very calm and wonderful atmosphere. about an hour from the city of Kovel. free entrance. very good and so crowded during the summer vacation and weekends times with tourists and locals.you can rent a place to stay with your family. it's better to book in advance at the hot season of the summer and weekends.

Svityaz is very cool.
For an American looking for a fancy resort this is not the place. If you want to tent, bus, or motel stay its great. First time I went (2005) we stayed in the tent right near the lake shore. The second time (2010) we stayed at a Baba a Deed's lil Shipping container rooms. They had 5 of these, four for sleeping and one for kitchen. They were very cool, and very inexpensive even by UKR standard. I had to laugh when Deed said "He's American....Huh he does not look mean at all." I was the first American he had ever met. Ahhh the Cold War! ANYWAY Svityaz is Awesome so long as one doesn't mind primitive camping. The lake itself is awesome, activities for all ages awesome, The Food is awesome, a lot of the standard food Kiosks with typical UKR foods. Smoked EEL YUMMM. AND the woods are filled with Mushrooms so long as you get up early enough to beat the crowd! The only complaint I have is it is so packed during summer it becomes trashed. People using the surrounding woods for the latrine. They have facilities they just become over used and people just use the woods, and nobody buries their human waste. This is the only reason for 4* not 5.
