A must see site on a rainy day
I visited the Rukavishnikov Mansion on a beautiful sunny spring day. It is situated on a high bank of the Volga River. I took a guided tour. That is when you put on shoe covers and follow a guide telling you a story about each room. It is an interesting chance to see how the rich had lived before the Revolution. You cannot take photos in most of the rooms, however you can in the most spacious Ball-room.

It's a pity that you can't take pictures of every room of the museum
The museum is very impressive. Each room reflects the inner world of its owner. They are all different in decoration, furniture and energy. You gotta pay extra for taking pictures (100 roubles) but in my opinion they should let visitors take pictures in more than 2 rooms because the most interesting was before the Great Hall. The excursion was fine, very informative. It's held every hour from 10 am untill 04 pm on weekdays and from 12 am untill 06 pm on weekends. There are some other extra exhibitions that are held in museum apart from the main one. I visited it in July and there was an exhibition devoted to chairs which were collected by Nizhegorodsky merchants and the outstanding people of Nizhegorodsky region. The website http://www.ngiamz.ru/rukavish_pages/rukavish_index.html But it's only in Russian unfortunately

Must see in Nizhnyj Novgorod
I belive it is one of the most beautiful building in Nizhnyj Novgorod. Each room is decorated in different style and in each room is expozition, but the most interesting is the building itself. You have to wear shoe cover there, so take closed shoes, because the covers are daily used by many visitors. Visit costs 200 rub, foto is free. I spend there Aproximately 1,5 hour. There is quite a lot of people.
