4.0 (9 reviews) Spent Ranking #6 in Sombor Speciality Museums

The real representant of national identity of people in Vojvodina !

This National Museum of the Sombor is located near and beside the street called Venac (Crown) Petar Bojovic and in the proximity of the Republic Square. Being in the centre, in the Main street, here in Sombor, we, after getting information from the locals, headed little bit to the west, and got to the Museum in a very short time. The ceremonial opening of the National Museum took the place in 1945. Milan Konjovic, the great serbian painter, was elected as the director of the museum and the poet Veljko Petrovic opened the museum. Nowadays, in museum can be seen all the most important paintings of the Yugoslav authors, the paintings of the contemporary artists of Serbia and Vojvodina, ethnographic items as the local costumes and many other stuffs. With the time, the Town Museum of Sombor became a cultural institution of museum preservation in the municipalities of Apatin, Odzaci, Kula and Sombor. Really nice and rich museum !

    Small but Valuable Museum
Small but valuable museum. Interesting exhibition together with kind curator is a good starting point for a visit to the region. Nice gallery of Yugoslav contemporary art is also part of the Museum.
