Vivar Kanal, Vlore County, Albania

4.0 (29 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #3 in Saranda Bodies of Water

Just by the Butrint national park

The Vivar canal connects the Butrint Lake with Ionian Sea. It's a small canal best seen just in front of the Butrint national park entrance, where's the primitive cable "ferry" (better say raft). This ferry can accept very few cars and crosses in less than 5 min. However, there's no touristic need to cross on the other side as the remains of Butrint there are not well preserved. Therefore is for local residents purposes. However the scenery is very picturesque with fishermen all around.

    nice ferry crossing
yes this was an experience we had several decades ago in Belgium too. Nice crossing with a tremendous trip trough the mountains and lake towards Sarande.
