    A favorite stop in Virginia
This museum is one of my favorites of all time, w/ diverse collections, reasonable entrance fee (free) and centrally located when I travel down 95. This time, I stopped at the museum to share the Faberge eggs and Tiffany glass w/ a friend. The museum does not disappoint, ever. We didn't have time to see the special exhibit of "The Dirty South". As w/ many of their special displays, it looked interesting. I am looking forward to their re-opening of the wing that has been undergoing construction for a long time. We did have time to take in the outside from the glass reeds in the water lily pond to the new statue at the front of the museum. I have included a picture of it. It is meant to mirror the statue of Jeb Stuart monument which is now gone. It would be interesting, from an artistic POV to be able to see both statues. You can view photos of the Stuart statue on-line to get some idea of the comparison. It was only by talking to a guard that we found this out. It would be nice if there were a blurb, like there is on much artwork that explains that. But, considering the racial tension in for 2020, maybe just letting it speak for itself is better.

    FANTASTIC-DO NOT MISS!
This museum is fantastic and it's free!! Parking is $6.00 in a covered garage a short walk from the entrance. Check out the sculpture garden before you go into the museum itself. We spent 4 hrs at a comfortable pace and saw almost everything. This museum is not overwhelming and easy to navigate. It wasn't crowded and we were really able to thoroughly enjoy each gallery. I loved the Faberge exhibit. It was incredible. Don't miss the gallery filled with beautiful jewelry pieces either. I live in New York and I would say this museum rates with some of the best in NYC.
