Lake Victoria, Victoria, Australia

4.5 (12 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Maryborough Bodies of Water

Pleasant Stroll.

We had a dog on board that was keen to get out of the car. We took her for a pleasant walk around the lake. A nice break.

Lovely lake with great walking track
Lake Victoria is situated just out of the town centre, next to the sports ground and swimming pool. It has a terrific gravel track around it suitable for walking, jogging and cycling. It is quite flat so is suitable for all ages and abilities, approximately 1.1 km the full loop. A couple of small islands in the lake are home to ducks, swans and a variety of other water birds. No swimming, kayaking or boating allowed as water is recycled. No mosquitoes. Great to sit next to in the evening and watch colourful sunsets from the Maryborough Caravan Park. Easy walking distance from the centre of town.

    Lake Victoria
A lake in the middle of town built in the 1880's by prisoners. Sits with a magnificent grandstand in the background at the local football ground. Well know for the Highland Gathering games each New Year's Day. A walk around the lake is comfortable and not far from the Main Street. Some of the early era housing in Park road is worth looking at and is adjacent to the football oval. The caravan park is next to the lake and the RACV Energy Breakthrough run in November has around 5000 school children and staff participate in a 24 hour human powered and powered vehicles? Worth a discovery and enjoy a BBQ, feed the ducks or walk the grand children.
