Lake Tyrrell, Victoria, Australia

Still beautiful

It was windy and intermittently rainy while there this arvo but still a lovely time Much of the walk to the point is underwater now as is the viewing platform We drove all the way to the end A local farmer described it as just a stinky lake but no smells today because of the wind. No real overt pinkness all around neither - wind, cloud, high water levels have all seen to that. There were moments though when wind died off or we viewed spots of the lake from a different angle that we could see pink. Or maybe our eyes were playing tricks on us! We stayed a good couple of hours absorbing it all and thoroughly enjoyed the changing landscape around us as the rain, sun and wind came and went. I did like seeing the lunettes too Also not another soul in sight while there. The lady at the info centre advised seeing it in January at sunset on a sunny day for the more picture perfect moments

    A very rewarding experience
A sensational experience. While weather conditions did not allow the full 'pink colouring' of the lake to be captured, the experience in itself was well worth the early rise to see and capture the Sunrise. Julie provides a great service and goes out of her way to ensure each and every customer is rewarded with a memento to treasure. As an amateur photographer Julie was very flexible in ensuring the best possible time to visit and more importunately, she was willing to share her extensive knowledge to help get the best results for the visit. Photographers must note however, that despite Julie's best efforts the weather is in the hands of the 'gods'. This tour is well worth taking, and along with the many other tourist interests being developed in the area, in particular in association with the Silo Art Trail, makes Sea Lake and Lake Tyrell a must do.

    Nature at its best
We arrived shortly before sunset, on a still evening when the water was barely moving. We were able to drive to a parking area just a short walk to the viewing location. There was just enough cloud to make the sunset spectacular, and the reflection of the horizon in the lake was unforgettable.
