A draw card for the pioneer settlers
If you walk through the impressive, Memorial Gates (1920) you enter the Lake Marma Reserve, a 20 hectare lake which was once the water source for the first settlers and is now a pleasant parkland known for its birdlife and its easy 2km walking track. The day we visited it was overcast but the area is beautiful and it makes for an easy walk... as it's fairly flat. What we did notice is there are cabins available in the reserve area. I imagine waking up next to that lake would be pretty special. Further to this, it's not too far from the Main Street so you could easily walk to the lake from most places in town.

Attractive spot
Nice spot to stop to stretch your legs or to eat lunch. Adequate playground but the real highlight is the lovely jetty area on lake. The war memorial gates (which years ago you could drive thru) are worth a look and reflection

Something For Everyone
Pack the fishing rods, the lake holds some good sized carp and other species. There is a good sized park for the kids as well as public toilets and a swimming pool if you're visiting in the warmer months.
