Worth a look and a return visit
A vast freshwater lake surrounding g the town of Colac. Visited the parklands town side with a Lakeside walk, playground, Botanic gardens and reserve noted. Able to park my van under the extensive canopy to wait out the electrical storm and exyteme heat. Unfortunately due to conditions I was unable to fully explore on foot but have noted the area for future explorations. Lovely building facades, plenty of history and a yacht and bowls Club within the precinct along with shady tree canopy and winding pathways through the park. Only thing missing on the town side was a cafe or food venue. An opportunity missed? A place for all the family catering for groups, parties and outings with special memories sure to be created.

Large lake and natural foreshore
We had some leftover duck feed and wanted to feed the ducks on Lake Colac. When we got there, it was raining lightly and there were no ducks to be seen. A number of families were camping near the foreshore where there are bins and fireplaces and public toilets. There didnt seem to be much shelter from the elements. Once the rain cleared, the glassy stillness of the lake gave a nice photo op.

Something else to see
It is a large expanse of water and can be viewed from the shore. I am not sure if you want to go into it. There are waterbirds to observe and sun sets to experience. There is a jetty you can use. It is probably better to focus on what is nearby - the botanical gardens, walking trails, and a bird sanctuary.
