I grew up heading to Lake Boga every Summer and these days it's nostalgic to re-visit... I believe visiting it in Spring was the most delightful time to visit. The weather was 29C and it was perfect. These days there is a cafe on the water's edge, gorgeous playgrounds, museums, mosaic story boards, historic artefacts and ... a really stunning view of the water. It's well used by people who fish and actively participate in water sports. There is even a yacht club here. You can ride a bike, or walk around it for the most part... there is a part where the residential homes are that you need to go further afield.

A beautiful lake with an amazing history
This beautiful lake has a fascinating history in that it was a secret World War 2 flying boat repair depot. Now used for recreation and fishing this is a nice place to visit or to stop and have a picnic by the water. While you are here it is a must do to visit the Catalina Flying Boat Museum.

    A fascinating history lesson
This Catalina Flying boat museum was a surprise destination with a lot of history about the #1 Flying Boat Repair Depot during WW2. A great little video gives the history to the area and is well worth watching before exploring the relics and historical items on display. Exceptionally helpful staff can also help with any online searches about family members who may have enlisted in WW2. The drive around the lake was very pleasant although the road doesn't completely go around. There is a cafe attached to the museum which was not open on the day we visited. A lovely park surrounds the museum and it would be a great spot in warmer weather. Definitely recommend the stop.
