A well curated centre of Australian colonial history

Eureka Centre Ballarat is located at the historic site of 1854 Eureka Stockade rebellion, in the grounds of the Eureka Stockade Memorial Gardens. It is home to the Eureka Flag – one of Australia’s most revered cultural artefacts and textile treasures. The Centre is surrounded by the scenic National Heritage-listed Eureka Stockade Memorial Gardens. I The Eureka Stockade resonates profoundly in the Australian national story. The Eureka uprising was a transformative social movement that deeply informed the development of modern democratic Australia. The Eureka Centre explores the cultural impact of the gold rush and tells the stories of the men and women who risked their lives in the fight for miner’s rights. The impact of their struggle and the resulting political reforms continues today in the rights enjoyed by all Australian citizens.

A well curated centre of Australian colonial history
The Eureka Centre is a well curated museum of Australian colonial history. It tells the story of the rebellion against the gold tax and the colonial authorities. It also houses the original Eureka flag that flew over the stockade. Well worth the visit when in Ballarat.

    Rich in history!
The Eureka centre is a centre worth looking at if, like me you have very little knowledge of what actually occurred at Eureka Stockade. The staff were friendly particularly Daniel, who we had a lengthy chat to whilst buying our tickets to enter. The museum is surrounded by a beautiful park trees and garden and also some historical artefacts of the Eureka Stockade. Museum houses the original Eureka Stockade flag wonderfully preserved after all this time. 45 minutes to an hour is about the required time to visit
