Nice peaceful walk around the island and nice way to remember our serice members

After visiting the art museum, I walked over to the Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary and followed the sidewalk around the island. There are spots along the path to commemorate the different branches of the armed forces as well as some of the wars. All in all, nice experience.

    A Must See Place to Reflect
    This Veterans Memorial is special. It is away from the stores and restaurants. It is a quiet place when one can reflect on the courage and service of the men and women who served our country. The last time I visited there, I met a 92 year-old vet. I saw the "World War II" on his cap. He saw the Vietnam Veteran" on mine. I went up to him and asked for the privilege of shaking his hand. We shook. He told me of the ships he served on and mentioned a few islands he helped recover. He brightened as he spoke. Then we went off to see the memorials. I will not tell you of all we saw. I will suggest you go there for yourself and FEEL the quiet. And remember those honored there.

    One of the nicest and best kept memorial parks we've visited!
    A must see if you're in the area. The view as you enter the park and see our Flag waving above was inspiring. A plaque honoring each branch of the military was visible as you walk around the park. Beautiful location.
