Really nice first impression
Our family is moving to Vero Beach next year and, while we were all out house-hunting, we stopped briefly to walk the beach at this beautiful Atlantic Ocean location. It was so perfect: white sand, turquoise surf, as far as the eye can see. The walk from the parking lot (which is free but we do not know the parking restrictions (i.e. how many hours before a fine kicks in) and so we all ventured forth. Some really wonderful land tortoises were serenely (as possible amidst the people) munching grass near the parking area and then we began the short boardwalk-bridge walk through vegetation to the beach. Pure eye candy! Although there is supposed to be a place to rent umbrellas and chairs, we did not see that business and would do more research to locate it, when the time comes to spend hours there. South Beach rates high on our list of pristine beaches.

Great location
Easy accessible, plenty of parking, showers and clean bathrooms. Beach is kept very clean. Beach umbrellas and chairs are there for rent. Safeguard station and south beach pizzeria located across parking lot, they also deliver. Great spot for families or couples. Plenty of room for everyone,

Our favorite
We have visited Vero Beach many times and we have stayed near South Beach during several of our visits. There is adequate parking for visitors in two lots. Many people also walk to the beach. The sand is clean and soft. If interested there are volleyball nets set up. During this visit, the beach was not busy but it was windy so our visit lasted only an hour. If you are an early riser this is a good location for a sunrise photograph.
