Vogalonga international regata gives opportunity to visit Venezia in a very unique way
Once a year the canals in Venezia become reserved for an international event Vogalonga in which thousands of enthusiasts paddle around the city to give a tribute to its magnificent history and to generations of sailors entering of Europe via the port of venezia. The regata starts right in front of the Piazza di San Marco by a gun shot and ends in approximately the same place after crossing the city via Canale Grande. High credit needs to be give to the commite organising this big event. Being a memeber of a massive crowd of man-propelled ships, barcs, kayaks, rowing boats and many other types , as it moves along the island trying to make the best time is fantastic experience.

Boat routes are marked on Waze!
It depends where from you are going to Venice. But if you don't go by train straight to "city centre" then you will most probably come over there by boat just like I did. Beside that diesel stink of our boat I was enjoying my time out there smelling salty sea air with its typical breeze. Plus I saw some jellyfish! You can find it pictured at this review.
