Book in advance or take a tour
Came here last week with my partner as part of a tour I had booked (skip the line Doges Palace and St Marks Basilica with guide) and really enjoyed our visit. The building itself is very impressive inside and out and our guide gave us an insight into the history (pointing out things that we would not have noticed had we visited on our own). I would recommend you either book a tour (ideally in conjunction with Doges Palace, to fully appreciate the experience) or book a ticket in advance as the queues were massive and people were standing in the extreme heat for hours to get in. Well worth a visit. NB men and women are required to have their shoulders and knees covered.,

    Beautiful Cathedral
I advise to book an entrance ticket online with a dedicated time slot, which ensures that you have priority access and not be standing in a queue for a couple of hours. The price is 6 Euros, which is excellent value for money, Once inside we paid 5 Euros to see the shrine of St Mark and 7 Euros to go to the museum and the upper part of the Basilica and on the external roof where you get incredible views of St Marks Square and the Dowdger's Palace. The decoration inside the Basilica are incredible with lots of intricate mosaic designs. Well worth a visit.
