The MUSA houses the largest and most diverse collection of pre-Columbian ceramic pieces in Colombia, which are exhibited at its venues in Bogotá and Cali. The museum's collection shows not only the aesthetic variety of pre-Columbian peoples, but can also serve as a window to research their sophisticated ways of understanding and explaining life, death and the world. Beautiful Spanish colonial building, now a small museum
As with a previous review on the adjoining iglesia La Merced this is a small collection of original settlement buildings that have somehow avoided the ravages of bad planning. The building is well preserved and the simple architecture is charming and worth seeing, albeit you have to close your eyes to the surrounds. Inside the museum has a small display of local items but with a bit of thought it could be so much more. Worth a visit but it will only take 20 mins.

    Best for Pre-Columbian pottery
Well worth visiting, particularly if you’re planning on going to any of the Pre-Columbia’s sites. Located in a pleasant old colonial villa round a garden, the museum displays mainly pottery from several indigenous groups - Tumaco, Nariño, Calima, Tolima, Quimbaya and a little from San Agustin and Tierradentro. It’s the Tumaco, Tolima and Quimbaya that is most striking. There is also currently an exhibition and photos of the painted graves in Tierradentro. Helpful staff.
