Free day out with great guide
Beautiful setting. Free entry. Very good bird watching with well kept facilities. The guide working on the day was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend for families.

Birding made easy
Compared to rainforest birding, this is a place for the lazier among us. Only 15 min out of Buga, it's got easy access to wetland and dry forest birds, including Common Potoo, Crimson-crested woodpecker and Dwarf cuckoo. Bring bug spray and plan to be out of here by 10:30. It gets REALLY hot!

Easy Place to See a Lot of Bird Species
Not far from the pretty town of Buga, the wetlands and forest of Sonso lagoon makes for a nice combination of birding habitats, starting at the turnoff from the highway, through the little village, all the way up to the official reserve facilities. The sweet little spectacled parrotlets are habituated to human traffic and easy to view. There is little shade before you get to the gates of the official facility, but more when you enter the forests within. Be prepared for aggressive mosquitoes in all areas.
