Stunning phenomenon

    Amazing inside and out
I've always loved this building, having visited Valencia many times. I haven't yet had the opportunity to go to any of the shows either down to timing or something I want to see or hear. But this visit we decided to go for the tour so we could at least see the inside. We had a very friendly and informative guide who showed us some of the backstage areas and also the main halls. The architect certainly perfected this down to the smallest details like door handles. The materials are simply gorgeous in themselves and in situ. Definitely worth a visit and next time I'll try and make sure I get to a concert or opera.

    Masterpiece
The actual building is a masterpiece of modern architecture and descriptions of it have varied from a blend of seagoing vessel and spacecraft to some sort of a prehistoric insect to a giant warrior’s helmet. No doubt it is a symbol of the city of Valencia. The roof or feather plume is the most structurally spectacular detail. The opera house resembles a ship with round portals, or a cracked egg shell in which the main auditorium itself is the yolk.
