Benicarlo Central Market, Valencian Country, Spain

A very interesting food market

Whilst in Peniscola we went up to the Benicarlo market which (when we went was on Wendnesdays). The market itself was quite busy with many different types of stalls. I was mainly interested in the indoor food market. It was great to see all the different varieties of fish, meats, cheeses and olives which were being sold. If you are in the area on market day then head down and have a look round.

    A typical Spanish Market
A wonderful range of meat, fish and vegetables in a wonderful Spanish atmosphere. If you visit on Wednesday there is a very good outdoor market surrounding the central market. One stall sells olives the likes of which I haven't tasted anywhere else. Wonderful.

Very small market with local produce
I have seen better markets but the fish stalls seemed to offer very fresh fish. Seemed a bit empty however. The local tomatoes from Benicarlo were lovely.
