Beautiful church

Located on Plaza De Virgen there are several stunning buildings ,one I loved to view was Basilica De La Virgen De Los Desamparados ,a stunning looking church building. dedicated to the patron Saint of Valencia and also one of the most important religious buildings. Constructed in the 17th century ,the first church building constructed in the Baroque style of architecture that's so pleasing on the eye, constructed between 1652-1667 from designs from architect Diego Martinez Ponce De Urrana ,the eye catching dome is not centrally located but is nearer the wonderful cathedral,it's a great looking building,we viewed it as we were pub and bar hopping around the wonderful plaza,my twin brother Stephen and I took some pretty photo's of the church before moving on ,it's easy to locate on Plaza De Virgen and is well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Valencia.

Dedicated to Our Lady of the Forsaken
A lovely ornate building and has an oval shaped blue tiled dome atop. A bright art work of the Holy Family adds further adornment to the façade. It is dedicated to the revered Virgin Mary. Known as the Forsaken, likely in part acquired due to beseeching by the people for her intercession during a major plaque in the 1640s. Wonderful frescoes by Antonio Palomino highlight the dome. Statues of Saint Vincent the Martyr and Saint Vincent Ferrer protect Mary who has a child in her arm. Upstairs there is a gallery with portraits of Popes and other religious figures.

One of the "to visit" attractions in Valencia
Not only the basilica, which is really nice where if you want you can spend some time to contemplate and admire, but the whole Plaza de la Virgen are a very nice place to be in Valencia. I've been there with my girlfriend and we really enjoyed the place. There are also street artist that are coming in the plaza to perform so, if you are lucky, you may see some nice performance while enjoying the view.
