  6. 4.5 Hochsitz Sculpture (4 reviews)
    - Hochsitz - the Hunter's Stand

    Hochsitz Sculpture image
Vadoz's main square is dotted with sculptures. This is probably my favourite. It's an old man, perched in an armchair at the top of a stand with long legs. It's called 'Hochsitz' which means 'The Hunter's Stand'. Why? Apparently Robert Indernaur, who sculpted it, likes addressing philosophical questions about how we see things in his work. A real hunter sees his potential prey from his stand above it. He decides what is worth hunting. But this isn't a hunter - it's an old man, presumably in his living toom watching TV. So the sculpture is raising questions about whether we truly see or understand what we watch on TV. See more..
