Beautiful old oak
The walk to the oak was almost as nice as the tree itself. We had lovely sunny weather too. A hidden gem of the Lohja and Lohjansaari. May be should have tried the Ö Café instead of the Ciderberg Applefarm...

Big oak tree
This Oak is claimed to be largest oak in Finland. It has circumference about 6,6 meters and height of 12m. (20ft/36ft). You can park your car by a school and nature path with information boards take you through the woods there. Total walking distance there and back is good one kilometre. You can in theory reach the place by public transportation, but car makes trip nice. There is also local wine yard to visit 1km further.

An oak tree in a forest
To get to the Paavolan Oak tree you need to follow a nature trail for about a kilometer. Along the trail you can find various information boards, telling about the various plants you pass along the way. Most of the walk is on duck boards which can be slippery during wet weather. There are also muddy patches, so you need to wear good walking shoes. You can not miss the tree itself as it is enormous and looks very impressive along side the other varieties of forest tree. There was a feeling of mystery about the place and well worth a visit if you are an enthusiast or just curious.
