A little bit strange art again
We have Finnish museum cards and the entrance is always free for us. So it was easy and pleasurable to escape the freezing cold temperatures inside this museum. With the 20 euro entrance fee, I would think twice before entering. The top 5th floor has usually the visually most stunning exhibitions because the space is so high. So it was also this time. There was Markus Copper's exhibition 'The Taste of Metal'. He is best known for his large, spatially dominating works that feature sounds, mechanical movement, or light. On our visit, many of his works were inoperational but still visually quite striking. Floors 2-3 had quite an interesting exhibition 'Navigating North'. It had a focus on works by artists from or working in Northern Finland.

Great Architecture, Interesting installations
My favorite part of this experience was the stunning architecture. The collection of contemporary art is rotating so It's hard to make a general statement about it. When I was there (October 2022) it was mainly a collection of quirky installation pieces, which is what most contemporary art in museums is. One is either intrigued and fascinated by the often controversial statements being made or one hates it. I fall into the former category, hence the high rating. One installation that stood out to me was a wire wall in front of a large window on which museum goers are invited to place a found object or make their own to put on the wall. They rotate the objects regularly so the wall is constantly changing.
