One of the best pools in metropolitan Finland!
I have been to many, many different swimming pools through my years as water sports guy. Leppävaaras place is one of the best place I have been to so far. Excellent saunas, good pools especially during summer, water slides, deep pool, jumping tower... This place can serve any needs from swimming to water running to free diving and acrobatics. One of my favourite swimming places which beats easily Mäkelänrinne, Stadikka, Itäkeskus, Kontula, Vuosaari and other swimming pools that I have been to!

Lovely brand new outdoors pool area!
This used to be just a typical swimming hall. But in summer 2016 city has opened a brand new outdoor pool area that suites for everyone from babies to expert swimmers. Outdoor are offers a small water slide suitable for kids 6 years or older, one family pool (not so deep water, maybe 90 centimeters?) and some massaging showers there. A big wall separates adults pool from the family pool. And how smart is that this wall actually offers the outdoor shower for swimmers? So no cold wind when you take a shower between the walls. Adults pool is 50 meters long. All the grass area is turf so you want get your towel dirty. You are allowed to bring you stuff with you to the grass area so you can swim, read a book, enjoy some snacks. There is a restaurant where you can go wearing just your swimming suit to buy some lunch or snacks. There is also a small playground area, beach volley field and basket ball field available. And nice atmosphere since they play music all the time. Indoors there is a jumping pool open a year around (you can jump from 1, 3 or 5 meters). Summer time other areas of the indoor pools are closed but from autumn to spring there are lots of other pools available too. And guess what? This place costs only 5 euros from an adult and 2,5 euros from a child. Swimming time is not restricted in the summer time so you can stay the whole day if you feel like that. And right next to the swimming hall there is a popular public Angry Birds playground. So I think this is a perfect place to spend a warm summer day with kids.

Impressive Swimming Hall
Having been to many pools and swimming halls in and around Helsinki over the years this was my first visit to the one at Leppävaara. We arrived around 1pm on a Monday and were pleased to find it not too crowded, probably because many of the kids are now back at school. The indoor pools were still closed for the summer but it was very enjoyable in the outdoor pools where the water was surprisingly warm. The changing rooms, showers and saunas were very good as was everything else. The adult price was 5.50€
