    I always visit
I have been in Helsinki maybe 8 or 10 times, and I always make the trip to the Gallen-Kallela house. There's a long tram journey, then a pleasant 2.5 km walk through a park and by the sea to get to the house. It's designed in the national-romantic style, and it's a fun peice of architecture. The house isn't very big, but it has an excellent display of paintings by Gallen-Kallela and his contemporaries, plus a small changing exhibition. There's a good cafe/restaurant next to the house, so it's worth eating lunch here. This is a small but delightful place to visit, and I never miss it. It's a gem.

    Well worth the trip out
This is a charming site that was worth the trip out from Helsinki. The studio features some minor works of Gallen Kallela and plenty family history. I spent a couple of hours there, including enjoying an excellent cafe. I used the Reittiopas website to plan my travel by train, bus and on foot, which took me about an hour in total each way.
