A library? How on Earth can a library be a top attraction in a modern metropolitan city? If you have to ask, then you’ve never visited the Helsinki Public Library. This is the most thoughtfully designed public community space I’ve ever seen. It draws you in immediately and makes you feel welcome, no matter where you’re from, no matter what you are looking for. Start by taking the escalators to the top floor, walk upslope to get a full feeling of the inner spaciousness, then step outside on the balcony to read in the sun or just admire the view of the plaza and Music Centre. Walk down the spiral staircase to explore quiet spaces or visit the coffee shop on the ground floor. Honestly, if I lived in downtown Helsinki, I would spend all my spare time in this endlessly fascinating space.

The Most Stunning Library I've Ever Seen!
A thousand times WOW! This is the coolest library! A friend who was with us went multiple times because he thought it was so great! We only went once but if I had more time in Helsinki I would be at that library often. People can check out musical instruments, sewing machines, use 3D printers and more! The children's area is out of this world amazing - I'd love to take my grandkids there. It is visually stunning and totally captivating - Helsinki should be very proud of this beautiful structure for all people! Make sure you add this to your MUST-SEE list!

Great library
We had fun exploring this library. The staircase as you enter is covered in various words, which were chosen by the library’s patrons. If you go to the top floor, there is a quirky look out up a wooden slope with views of the city.
