Ilja Repin at Ateneum
I visited Ateneum to see their exhibition of the famous Russian painter Ilja Repin. The exhibition was really interesting and comprehensive, showing many of the artists most famous paintings. But it was near that I had missed it. Now during the covid19 the museum can’t take in so many visitors as usual, so you have to book the ticket in advance. I had booked a ticket to 2 p.m. and my train from Jakobstad should depart at 8.31 a.m. and I should arrive at Helsinki 12.35 p.m., so I had plenty of time to go to the museum. But the 8.31 train was cancelled due to electric problems at the track, so couldn’t arrive in time. The next train should depart at 11.34 a.m. and then I should arrive at 15.35 p.m. I phone the museum and told them about the problem and if I can change the booking to 4 p.m. The lady in phone sad, that they usually don’t change bookings, but she will ask the staff and they sad that I can change the booking to 4 p.m. I’m so happy that the staff was so flexible that I got an opportunity to see the Repin exhibition.

Repin in Ateneum
Just a beautiful old building in the center of Helsinki. The building itself is worth to see. Visited Ateneum to see the Ilja Repin art exhibition. It was well organized and roomy enough. The Repin art exhibition was really good and of course I must praise the Ateneum basic art collection which shows all the Finnish masters. Staff was friendly and helpful; it was a rainy day so they lent umbrellas to people who queued outdoors.
