Mozart in a Castle
Partner and I biked here while staying in Utrecht. Very easy getting here and was a great way to spend an afternoon. It was quiet when we went so we could tour at our own pace. There was a lovely lady on the 2nd floor who showed us around and explained the history of the families who lived there. There was a Mozart performance taking place that evening and we got to hear some rehearsals which was neat too! After the tour we stopped at their cafe for a nice apple tart and coffee. Was the highlight of our day for sure!

Nice Castle with lots to see
Today we visited Slot Zuylen in a small village called Oud-Zuylen. The castle was the home of the female writer Belle van Zuylen. We had as nice guided tour and our guide Karen Wesdorp had great knowledge of the castle and it's inhabitants throughout the ages. The tour was spoken in Dutch, but for visitors who had English or German as their native language there were booklets with the information in their own language.

Tours only
You can only visit the castle on a tour. Our tour lasted 1.5 hours. The guide did detailed explanations in Dutch, no English. We only speak English and knew the tour was in Dutch, but we stood around an unusually long time waiting for the Dutch explanation to be finished. The English handouts were not very good. The one I had was a short version compared to the one my wife had. Castle just was no that great.
