Relaxing way to see the countryside
This boat is run by volunteers who are incredibly friendly & helpful. It's mainly for people to hop on & off with their bikes on a set route to the fishing village of Spakenburg from Amersfoort. But due to disabilities my husband & I went on minus bikes, which they are fine with, we stopped briefly at Spakenburg for something to eat & returned to Amersfoort. One of the volunteers told us that next year they are hoping to make it that you have a longer time in Spakenburg before returning. They serve coffee, soup & other snacks/drinks on board, all very nice & incredibly cheap

nice boat trip from amersfoort to spakenburg, takes bicycles!
boat on the eem from amersfoort to spakenburg via soest and baarn and back. you can embark or disembark at any of the stops and you can bring your bicycle. for example you can cycle from amersfoort station where you can rent a bicycle, cycle to "paleis soestdijk" in soest (there is a bicycle path through the woods, going past the sand dunes as well, it is an easy cycle trip), visit the palace and the surrounding garden, then cycle to the eemslijn stop in soest. the boat will bring you and your bicycle back to amersfoort, 5 minutes from the station and provide you with some nice views of dutch meadows and amersfoort along the way. afterwards, have a look at the old center of amersfoort, also a good place to have dinner. for the boat, check the site for the operation times and the stops and you will need to pay cash. I paid 5 euro's for 1 bicycle, 1 adult, going from soest to amersfoort
