Must-see.
The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

Siena Duomo Experience: Outstanding Art
Visited this complex over two days, the Cathedral, the Baptistry, the crypt, and the museum. Within the Cathedral, Invest 2 euro in the videos that highlight essential art. While much of the floor was covered, critical examples were visible and gave one a good idea of those covered. The Pisa pulpit was incredible. For me the highlight was the Museum: Nativity of the Virgin Mary by Lorenzetti, Madonna by Duccio, ondo by Donatello, Madonna of the Large Eyes, and 14th Century statues. The crypt revealed paintings of the 13th century Sienese. Highly recommend spending time in this complex rich of Sienese art.

Worth the visit ! Not worth the skip the line ticket
Came in August and it was busy! I wouldn’t recommend a skip the queue ticket. It turned out to be an extra 9 euros each and the biggest queue was for the library inside the cathedral which we couldn’t use the skip ticket for anyway. Hardly any queue outside the ticket booking office or to get into the cathedral (10 people max at 14:00). Likewise we couldn’t use the skip the queue ticket for the museum attached so we queued for up to an hour and half and it wasn’t moving so we left. Felt like a waste of time .. Once inside the cathedral it’s so beautiful! Definitely one of the most outstanding pieces of architecture and design. Well worth the visit. Keep your eyes on the floor!
