A Stunning Holiday

At Oludeniz, you can expect a stunning blue lagoon, lush green mountains, and turquoise waters so clear you can see the bottom even far out from shore. Engage in a variety of water sports or simply relax on the sandy beach. Paragliding off of Babadag mountain is popular as well, offering breathtaking views from a different vantage point. The town of Oludeniz also has a charming village atmosphere, with traditional Turkish fare and shops selling handmade ceramics and textiles. It gets busy during summer, so visit during the shoulder months if you want fewer crowds. – Tripadvisor

    A very lively holiday resort
Well Oludeniz wasn't quite what I was expecting but I loved it none the less, the strip is unbelievable. The restaurants were great, the food prices were very reasonable, but beware drinking can be very expensive a bottle of Efes in most restaurants and bars will put you back about just under £5.00 if you go for a bottle of imported beer like Corona kiss £7.50 goodbye a cocktail £10.00 London prices. A bottle of wine starts at around £18.00 BUT get in a cab go into a near-by town you can cut those prices by two thirds. Blue Lagoon avoid going at the weekends at all costs, it took us ten minutes to get there and over an hour to get back via the SunCity shuttle bus and your crammed in like sardines. We followed recommendations and used Gravity for our paragliding experience, all their pilots are vastly experienced their shop is on the front ask for Bob. The main beach, sardines come to mind and stifling hot but the sea is gorgeous, two sunbeds and an umbrella £6.00 for the day. So a lot more expensive than we thought to enjoy a beer but food more than reasonable..

Great town and lagoon beach area but extremely packed
Ölüdeniz as with most places is more commercialised than ever with similar shops and restaurants offering / catering for the usual tourist needs. It was much nicer 30 yers ago including the lagoon with much clearer waters and few people. The lagoon is a protect led conservation area. I would still recommend going there from Fethiye which costs around 1 lire or £1 by minivan bus which are in abundance. A taxi ride will cost around 70 lire or £7 for the 20 mins or 8 miles ride to/from Fethiye. The lagoon is very safe for kids as it’s a gradual shallow incline and waters very warm when temperature is at 30C but be warned that there will be many tourist around and social distancing will be very difficult. There is another beach facing the sea and is much quieter but large waves and steeper incline. The town has lots of shops and restaurants and the restaurant ushers can be very rude and would do their best to put pressure for you to come in. The same with the shop vendors and I can sympathise as the pandemic must have had a large impact on their business. This is less so in the larger towns with fewer tourists. Overall I would return to Ölüdeniz and if you like paragliding with an instructor jumping from the mountain side then this is one of the best cheapest / place in the world with one landing virtually every minute in the resorts beach centre. Be warned that social distancing is harder here unlike Dalyan where it is compulsory to wear masks all the time even when outside shopping or a 900 lira fine.
