Great for kids!!

I found this museum on Trip Advisor and read a few reviews that said others spent a couple hours here. So did we. I enjoyed talking with the owner. He is knowledgeable and his excitement to share about the machines makes it fun. My favorite part is that my kids were able to try a variety of sewing machines as well as a few other STEM experiences. They made key chains and designs for T-shirts and it was free for them. My son said he learned that sewing isn't boring, and it felt like it was his birthday! There are also classes they can participate in to grow in their creative abilities so we will be back, for sure!

Real Experience and Fascination at the Antique Sewing Center (and Museum)!
We had such a grand time! A remarkable, singular place in all the world perhaps, the Vintage Sewing Center And Museum is infused with the intention to entice all persons and to engage particularly the young in the real experience and fascination of working thread in the tactile creative magic of sewing. We visited as a prearranged group of twelve, with kids ages 11 -14, young adults, and parents and a grandparent. Each was brought into the creative and inventive world of the "M" (as it is colloquially called) by the expert guide/curator/artist/sewist with vast knowledge, interesting detail, often supported by fascinating stories, and an obvious commitment and natural ability to connect to individuals. I highly recommend scheduling a tour! Our group found enchantment in observing remarkably purposed ( boots, sails, tailoring, travel, surgical) or community-lifting general use sewing machines. Multiple manufacturers, countries, and a real sense of invention from the 1800's is conveyed. Reluctant individuals found the actual sewing experience terrific. We learned that sewing interest is on the rise again ! Happy Five Year Birthday to the "M"! A "Center" for active inquiry and practice in the sewing realm for everyone. Our group found enchantment in observing remarkably purposed ( boots, sails, tailoring, travel, surgical) or community-lifting general use sewing machines. Multiple manufacturers, countries, and a real sense of invention from the 1800's is still in place. Sewing interest is on the rise again !

    Best In The World
This must be the #1 thing to do in Tulsa. We learned online that this is the top rated seing machine in the world (London and Tokyo are second and third) and the only full-time museum in the nation. Take the tour with WK. You will never have a better one by anyone anywhere for any reason. One of our party brought along three bobbins and showed them to WK. He immediately set two aside and said “this one is rare and valuable - maybe from the 1860’s”. We gave it to him and the museum. We could go on and on. But you get the idea. He charges $20 per person for a two plus hour tour. When I paid for our group he wouldn’t handle the money. He said “put it in the box over there for our kid’s programs.”
