Parcul Etnografic Naţional “Romulus Vuia”, Transylvania, Romania

4.5 (83 reviews) Spent Ranking #11 in Northwest Romania National Parks

Nice for stroll

There is a small fee to get in. It is nice to stroll around and see the different traditional Romanian buildings. It took about an hour to me to visit the whole ground. This place is good to combine with the Hoia forest next to it. It is not a must-do, but good entertainment.

    A must see
Rare for us to be all impressed by any museum but this was well worth the walk out (though you can get taxi or bus). It is an outdoor museum of old and reconstructed buildings from late 18th to early 20th century. The buildings vary from near complete farmsteads from different areas to sheds housing olive presses or felting hammers. It is well kept and staff eager to show you inside. Might have liked more of the houses open but were enough to get a feel. Some are grouped such that you could a 'village'. The two 18th century wooden churches are the stars. Sleek roofscapes and wonderful painted panels inside. I suspect the museum is a work in progress; there could be more information in English available at sight (there is an English guide that can be bought at Ethnographic Museum in the city). It has the makings of a top class museum in international terms.

    Interesting place
The park is located in a nice area and you can enjoy discovering some of the old traditions. There are some furnished wooden houses you can see, some of them two or three hundred years old. You can also see different tools they used in the past for farming, pottery etc. There are some wooden churches from different parts of Transylvania you may also visit. It's worth stopping by.
