This name derives from the mechanism installed in the church tower in 1793. The clock and the moon are the work of George Rueppe, an innovative mechanic from Oradea. The mechanism rotating the moon is designed to make a full rotation on its axis in 28 days, thus indicating the moon phases, depending on the daily cycle marked by the clock mechanism. Inside the Moon Church you can visit a representative museum, with particularly beautiful Orthodox church-related objects.

As always, a point of interest to view in Oradea
This year I also visited the museum of the Moon Church and I discovered some interesting things about the history of this church, what efforts were made to build it. I also found out, that inside the church, above the altar, the face of the popular hero Horea was painted. It is worth visiting, because, as far as I know, only this church has that mechanism that shows us the phases of the Moon, being unique in the world.

Impressive
It's located in the center of Oradea and it's a great attraction. You can admire its architecture and the clock mechanism showing the phases of the moon. If you go inside you can see the great paintings. It's an Orthodox church.
