Helpful Staff and Usually a Visiting Artist in the Building
This is our go-to when visiting the Smokies. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They offer the same products found at the Cades Cove Visitor Center and the Sugarlands Visitor Center (minus the crowds). There is a small area in the same building that usually has a rotating artist showing their craft. We have enjoyed many different forms of art...and it free to look!

    Dropped in to Purchase Membership
You can purchase a membership to support The Great Smoky National Park either here (smaller and quieter location) or Sugarlands Visitor Center in Gatlinburg and it comes with a gift and subscription. We opted to renew in Townsend since we had just come across the new Foothills Parkway. They had a small gift shop and in an adjacent room some local crafters selling goods. We had been in the adjacent field for a Hot Air Balloon Festival that takes place in the fall but had never actually been inside this visitor center location. They have a paved parking area and restrooms. The are also close to The Trail Head Steak and Trout House were we had lunch (see that review)
