Long wait but fun once you go!
We completed the Cades Cove Loop via a rented bike around 11:30 and walked over to the riding stables. We should have gotten lunch first from the camp store or by bringing our own. The sign on the door said there was a 1-2 hour wait but it didn’t look like there were a ton of people waiting. The cons for this place do not outweigh the pros but I wish we would have realized them. They do not give you any indication of timing so you can’t really leave, there is no place to sit, and there is no food or water right there. Wish we would have brought bag chairs, lunch, and an activity to do while we were hanging out with our 9 year olds. In the end it was about 2.5 hours wait from when we checked in to when we got to ride. The pros for this place are pretty good. First you get to ride in the Smoky Mountain National Park! We had Debbie who was excellent with our group and fantastic with the horses. You can tell she absolutely loves her job and it makes the ride so enjoyable. The horses are beautiful and they make it easy to get on and off :) the man who works the stables was kind and funny as well. I would recommend as long as you have 4-5 hours to spend on it - the ride itself is beautiful but it is a fairly typical ride that you could do anywhere :)

Fun Day Horseback Riding in Cades Cove
The kids and I wanted to go horseback riding in the Smokies, so we went to Cades Cove Riding Stables. We had a great time! The staff is super nice & helpful! This was our first time riding and they made us feel comfortable on a horse. The trail is nice & takes about hour to ride (it felt like the right length). Half way through the ride, the staff member who was leading us got off her horse and took pictures of everyone on their horse using each person’s cellphone, so don’t worry about getting pictures. Be sure to bring some cash for a tip. I don’t think they make reservations, so I’d recommend arriving when they open at 9. We got there around 10:30 and had to wait about an hour to ride since there were other groups in front of us (they take about 8-10 people at a time in a group & had 2 groups constantly going). There is a deck to get on and off the horses, so don’t worry about having to climb up. They have a good variety of horses and can accommodate most people (up to 300 lbs). Overall it was a fun experience!!! The kids already want to go riding again!
